Beardspiration: Top 6 Big & Beautiful Celebrity Beards
No Shave November is upon us once again, which means it’s time to stow your razors and get facial hair-crazy. Some men (and women!) participate in this yearly event in the name of fun and cancer awareness, while others compete to see who can grow out the most glorious beard by month’s end. While the rules of engagement might be clear, the purpose of the phenomenon is not so obvious.
Originally, No Shave November began as a campaign to increase cancer awareness and help raise funds for research. It even has an accompanying awareness month known as Movember, where men grow out their mustaches for a similar purpose—raising awareness about prostate and testicular cancer.
To celebrate the movement, here’s our Top 6 list of Big and Beautiful Celebrity Beards. These actors take the “no shave” concept to stylish, shaggy, and outrageous new heights!
Ryan Gosling
These days, Ryan Gosling without a beard is like a morning without sunshine. Where would we be without it? The Canadian star of films like The Notebook, Crazy, Stupid, Love, and The Nice Guys has been known to sport facial hair of varying lengths and looks. But one thing that remains constant amidst all the beardage? Gosling looks effortlessly chic no matter how low his stubble hangs.

Idris Elba
British actor Idris Elba has excelled in a variety of film roles, including turns as Detective John Luther, Marvel hero Luke Cage, and Norse god and gatekeeper Heimdall in Thor. His versatility in acting, however, is matched only by his versatility in beard grooming. Elba knows how to rock a masculine beard. His next major role will be an interesting one: the male lead in The Dark Tower, an adaptation of Stephen King’s epic book series.

Leonardo DiCaprio
We’ve known Leonardo DiCaprio throughout the years, and we remember his baby-faced days well in movies such as Romeo + Juliet, Titanic, and Catch Me If You Can—among many other films. However, like his acting prowess and a fine wine, DiCaprio’s beard has also grown proportionally. His Oscar-winning performance as trapper Hugh Glass in The Revenant represents the height of DiCaprio’s bearded glory. But don’t worry—we’re sure that he has many more no-shave moments in store for us in movies yet to come.

Zach Galifianakis
The charm of Zach Galifianakis is that while his dense facial hair gives him an air of rugged maturity, his comedic roles often portray him as a childish buffoon. Who can forget his blundering antics as Alan Garner in The Hangover trilogy? While Galifianakis consistently makes us bust our gut laughing, his beard screams out “consistency” as well. He briefly went beardless but is back in the club for the long haul.

Jeff Bridges
From The Dude in The Big Lebowski to Rooster Cogburn in True Grit, to all the other movies over his 60+ year acting career, Jeff Bridges’ acting is the stuff of legend. We could say the same about his facial hair too, which always adapts accordingly to fit his many film roles. However thick his beard gets in movies to come, all we know is that every time Bridges gets screen time, we’re in for a real treat.

The Duck Commander Brothers
There is only one adult man without a massive, full-length beard in The Duck Commander Brothers—and this speaks volumes about the family’s commitment to sprawling facial hair. These stars of A&E’s Duck Dynasty not only hunt in forests, but they also grow forests on their chins. They deserve the top spot on our list because they not only own No Shave November, but they also make it open season for beards all year round.
