As hair transplant technology continues to improve, we at the Limmer Hair Transplant Center like to make sure that we’re offering our patients the most up to date options when it comes to hair transplants.
In keeping with that mindset, we have introduced a new instrument to help during the excision process, the Trivellini.
What is the Trivellini?
Trivellini is a handheld device that assists the doctor with the excision of the hair follicles during the FUE method of hair transplant. It’s extremely light weight and relies on the Smart React system instead of a foot pedal. It offers the doctors many variables for the FUE surgery that can complement or substitute for ARTAS robotic hair transplants.
The device is designed to allow the doctor to adjust the rotation, vibration, and oscillation for better accuracy and ease during the excision process. There’s actually a setting called “Mamba” which like its namesake as a sharp striking viper, has the ability to create a random pattern oscillation/rotation combo that creates perfect accuracy in some cases.
The doctor can choose different needle sizes and shapes which allows for more tailor surgeries for different hair types. Whether a patient has straight or curly hair, coarse or fine hair, the instrument can be adjusted for the best harvest.
With all of these options, we can ensure you will get the best grafts possible.
How Does the Trivelleni Help with the Hair Transplant Procedure?
The design and implementation of the Trivelleni device helps alleviate pressure on the doctor both in their hands as well as in their feet. One of the main issues with performing these types of procedures without the assistance of a device like this, is doctor fatigue.
Doctor fatigue in both the arms and the legs can lead to a few problems when performing a hair transplant. These procedures can last a significant amount of time, and the repeated motion of excising the donor follicles can wear down a doctor over time.
In traditional excision techniques a foot pedal is used when the doctor is ready to place the excision device on the scalp and remove the donor follicles. However, with the Trivelleni device, a computer assists the handheld device in knowing when the device is moving towards the scalp and can automatically activate based on the doctor’s settings.
This allows for the doctor to focus more on what they are doing with their hands and not have to worry about a foot pedal. It also helps reduce fatigue in the legs as the stepping motion is completely eliminated from the procedure.
In addition to the smart aspects of the device, the weight has also been significantly reduced when compared to traditional devices. This helps reduce the fatigue produced in the arms over time.
Reducing doctor fatigue allows for more accurate excisions of the donor follicles while also allowing for longer single sittings. What may have had to be split up into multiple sessions in the past can now be done much faster which allows for less discomfort for the patient.
How we are Utilizing the Trivelleni Device for our Patients?
This new device provides us as doctors a more advanced and safter way to operate on our patients that don’t feel comfortable with, or want to spend the extra money, on our other robotic assisted FUE hair transplant procedures.
Because the patient is not strapped into a cradle around the head during harvesting, the doctor is able to position the patient on their stomach or side during the harvest. Being able to change positions increases the comfort of this portion of the hair transplant procedure.
Another expanded use of the Trivellini is the ability to perform body hair harvests, meaning, the doctor can access hairs from the beard or chest, in order to increase the total amount of donor hair you may want or need for your scalp. Dr. Krejci has also used the Trivellini to move beard hairs from below the chin where they are not well visualized to the cheeks or goatee area of the beard for men wanting fuller beards.
Advantages of Trivellini
- Doctor Fatigue (above)
- More options for patient positioning and therefore more comfort during surgery.
- Ability to remove grafts at different angels and sites in the donor area outside the reach of the robot
- Option to harvest grafts from the body, like the beard or chest to obtain more total donor hair.
- Choice of different needle sizes and shpes allows for more tailor surgeries for different hair types.
- Overall, the Trivellini provides more variables which means a more personalized surgery for the patient.
Overall, it provides a needed upgrade to the traditional FUE methods, while continuing to bring our office up to date on the latest technological advancements in hair transplant. Having a versatile device like the Trivellini provides more options and variables which means a more personalized surgery and we believe that translates into better outcomes for our patients.
At Limmer Hair Transplant Center we pride ourselves in putting the comfort and care of our patients above all else. By investing in new technology, we are able to better serve our patients and ensure they are receiving the best care possible.
