Best Heads of Hair from the Grammys 2019
The 2019 Grammys are over, but that won’t stop us from talking about some of the biggest stars in music, and their hair!
While you may think that the Grammys is just about music, fashion and style play a huge role in the awards show as well. Walking the red carpet in a fabulous dress, or off-the-wall outfit, is all part of the fun that musicians bring to show.
Cardi B may have surprised everyone by being the first solo female artist to win a Grammy best rap album, but who were the standouts in terms of hairstyles?
Let’s take a look!
BTS
While the K-Pop group BTS (pictured at top) didn’t win any awards Sunday night, they did present an award for best R&B album to H.E.R.
If you’re not familiar with BTS, in addition for their catchy music, they are also known for their wide range of interesting hairdos and colorful hair dyes.
They’ve been photographed rocking such coifs as side braids, side-swept bangs, and even a curled emo look. They’ve also dyed their hair every single color under the rainbow. If you want to know what hairdo is in fashion on any given week, look no further than the members of the Korean boy band BTS.
Post Malone
Back in October of 2018, Rapper Post Malone chopped off his signature long hair which sent the internet into a frenzy. Nobody still knows why he actually cut his hair, but the general consensus remains that the shorter hair makes him look more mature – and according to some women, “kind of little puppy cuter.”
Post Malone showed up to the Grammys and performed with Red Hot Chili Peppers with short curly hair and a half-beard that extends from one side of his face to the other. While his hair may appear unkempt to most people, it’s part of what makes him stand out.
Tony Bennett
92-year-old Tony Bennett looked better than ever as he rocked the red carpet with his trademark short crop of hair. In fact, if you didn’t know he was 92, he could easily pass for a man in his 70’s. We got to see his salt-and-pepper ‘do, with complimenting mustache, as he strolled through the red carpet with fellow nominee Diana Krall.
There are plenty of rumors out there that say Tony Bennett has the most expensive head of hair in the industry, coming in around $20k. We say “rumors” because Bennett has never come out and explicitly stated that he’s undergone a hair transplant.
Whatever the case may be, we certainly hope our hair looks as good as Bennett’s does when we’re in our 90’s.
Billy Ray Cyrus
Billy Ray Cyrus came to the Grammys as an attendee dressed in a Southern brim hat, t-shirt, and leather jacket. He was photographed on the red carpet rocking his trademark country-esque long hair.
Cyrus has long since given up the mullet look that made him famous in the 90’s and has grown out his entire head of hair so that it extends down past his shoulders, and it isn’t showing any signs of stopping. Even at 57 it still looks as good as it did when he topped the charts with Achy Breaky Heart.
Ricky Martin
Ricky Martin performed alongside Camila Cabello as part of the opening act this year. Sporting a black-with-brown highlights hairdo and a 1920’s Vincent Price-esque full mustache, Martin’s trademark coif looked as good as it did when he burst onto the music scene with “Living La Vida Loca.”
Martin looked great with a full beard to compliment his longer on top, tighter on the sides, hair style.
Anthony Kiedis
Anthony Kiedis, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers, performed alongside rapper Post Malone during the ceremony this year. Sporting a bowl cut and mustache that some people said made him look like an undercover Sasha Baron Cohen character, Kiedis performed his band’s hit song “Dark Necessities” while Post Malone played guitar.
Having won multiple Grammys throughout his lifetime, he is no stranger to the award show. He no longer sports the long straight haird that was his trademark for so many years, instead opting for a cut that presents more of a three stooges vibe than a Rockstar.
But, seeing as how he’s still rocking after all these years, we say, wear whatever hair style makes you comfortable!
The 2019 Grammys saw many winners and a few losers, but most of all, they showed us that a beautiful head of hair is possible at any age. Fortunately, you don’t have to be a multimillionaire Rockstar to have a full head of hair that you can style in any way you want.
