What is Alma TED?
One approach to treating hair loss is known as regenerative medicine, using naturally occurring substances in the body to promote growth and healing. Growth factors are proteins produced by our bodies that give instructions to our cells. Normally, the scalp is a barrier that prevents topically applied growth factors from penetrating beneath the surface. Therefore, these substances are traditionally injected with needles which can be painful. One common example is Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) which uses your own platelets to release growth factors after it is injected into the scalp. As we get older our growth factors deteriorate in potency, thus we are often injecting suboptimal quality growth factors, and this can result in disappointing results.
We are now offering an exciting alternative to PRP injections. The Alma TED (trans epidermal delivery) device uses ultrasound energy to drive a unique hair growth serum (the TED+ Hair Care Formula) through the scalp directly to the hair follicles, and does so in a completely non-invasive, painless manner.
What is the TED+ Hair Care Formula?
This sound wave conduction serum contains over 30 ingredients for scalp health and hair growth, including:
- Growth factors
- Peptides
- Phytonutrients
- Amino acids
- Antimicrobials
- Hair and scalp moisturizers
- Stabilizers & preservatives
- Emulsifiers, solvents & more.
What does the treatment feel like?
Your scalp will be marked into 5 sections. When ultrasound handpiece is placed against the scalp, it will feel like a warm vibrating head massage and you will hear a high-pitched ringing that is transmitted to your ear drum. This is normal.
How many treatments do I need?
The current protocol is to undergo 3 treatments, 4-6 weeks apart then a maintenance treatment every 4-6 months.
What can I expect after a treatment?
The hair will be slightly damp but there is no pain after treatment, and you can resume most of your daily activities right away.
Grooming It is OK to brush or comb your hair as usual after treatment.
Shampooing, Hair color, perms, blowouts, etc. can all be performed safely the next day after the TED+ treatment. Residual hair growth serum will still be penetrating the treatment area for several hours. No special shampoo is necessary. It is OK to scrub or massage the scalp as usual with your next shampoo.
Topical minoxidil (Rogaine) or other topical medications can be applied safely the day after the TED+ treatment.
